WELCOME TO LINCOLN'S OUTDOOR SCHOOL ADVENTURE 2015

Day One

Today, we drove through the grey fog to a lovely park in Hayward where we enjoyed the bag lunches we brought from home. Then we crossed the San Mateo Bridge and discovered sunshine! We arrived at Outdoor School around 1:15 p.m. where our Naturalists met us with smiling faces! We learned the rules of Outdoor School, met lots of new friends from August Knodt, George Komure and Golden West Schools in Manteca Unified School District.  We even took a hike before a delicious dinner of pizza and salad! We really like the principal here, Grey Wolf, who reminded us that we need to take care of nature, ourselves and others. After a great campfire program where we learned some new songs and met a cool new character named Star, we headed off to bed! Who knew we would be this tired the first day of Outdoor School? We can't WAIT for tomorrow!

Day Two

Wow! After an amazing breakfast of pancakes, sausages, oatmeal and orange juice, we headed out for either the beach or a fabulous long hike! Some of us built shelters, some of us hiked along the beach, and we all enjoyed lunch: Taco Tuesday! We've started working on our cabin skits for the big Thursday campfire (our last night here) and found out how wonderful a hot shower can feel after a long day! Then after a dinner of roasted chicken, rice and yummy vegetables, we went with Mrs. Dunbar to a yurt! (That's a circular building on stilts.) We filled out surveys about how things are going at Outdoor School and then some of us did a night hike while others went to Sea Lab! Honestly, we're having great fun, but we're also getting pretty tired!

Day Three

Did we sleep well last night! This morning, we awoke to delicious french toast and syrup! Then each group set off on our adventures - those of us who went to the beach today saw a LOT of dolphins in the ocean! We also loved touching the anemones and sea stars! Those of us who went on the long hike really enjoyed see those amazingly tall redwood trees that are over a thousand years old! Wow! Then for dinner, it was Meatless Wednesday where we ate fantastic veggie and cheese pasta with THE BEST garlic bread! We had a blast at the dance tonight, where our naturalists and cabin leaders dressed in crazy costumes and taught us some cool new group dances! This is such a GREAT place!

Day Four

Can this already be the last full day of Outdoor School? Yikes! We started the day with a BIG breakfast of scrambled eggs, fried potatoes and delicious fluffy biscuits! Then we went off on our respective trips (to the beach or on the looooong hike to the Redwoods), and we arrived back at camp really, really tired. But not so tired that we couldn't enjoy a dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, fresh baked buns and CAKE!!! We even cleaned up in complete silence so we earned the right to smash cake in Mrs. Dunbar's face! The final campfire was amazing, and now it's off to bed to dream of coming home tomorrow!  We miss you all!  Can't wait to see you tomorrow!!!

Day Five

We are busily cleaning up our cabins and getting ready for our last hike and campfire singing! It's been an AMAZING week, but we are very ready to come back home! Mrs. Dunbar will call the office when we are about one hour away from Lincoln!  See you soon!!!
